Multi-million dollar drug busts

28 people have been charged after State Drug Squad detectives uncovered three cannabis farms as part of Operation Whiskey Alon.

Search warrants were executed throughout December at Deepwater, Moore Park Beach and Winfield where police will allege the three properties were being used as purpose-built cannabis farms.

The cannabis plantations consisted of a total of 28,127 cannabis pants. A total of 25 people, including 5 unlawful non-citizens, have been charged in relation to the three properties.

The latest raid at a property at Moore Park Beach near Bundaberg on 17 December resulted in the arrest of twelve men from Victoria.

Two 43-year-olds, a 44-year-old, 29-year-old, 39-year-old, 58-year-old, three 48-year-olds, two 42-year-olds, a 56-year-old and a 37-year-old, have been charged with one count each of producing dangerous drugs, and possessing dangerous drugs, and two counts of possessing anything used in commission of a crime.

All are due to reappear at Bundaberg Magistrates Court on 24 February 2025.

Further, on December 19, detectives executed a search warrant at a Gailes address where approximately 600 kilograms of packaged cannabis, an unlawful firearm, money counter and approximately $40,000 in cash were seized.

Three people have been charged in relation to these items.

A 24-year-old Gailes man has been charged with possessing dangerous drugs, possessing items used in commission of a crime and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act.

A 42-year-old Gailes man has been charged with possession of dangerous drugs, producing dangerous drugs, 3 counts of possessing items used in commission of a crime and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act.

A 51-year-old Gailes man has been charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possessing items used in commission of a crime and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act.

The three men have been remanded in custody and are expected to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 19.
