Woman facing arson charges after string of fires

A woman has been charged over a series of arsons in Yeppoon.

Between 3.15am and 4.40am Friday, firefighters were called to three separate blazes on Normanby Street, Cliff Street and John Street.

Keppel Dental, Shannon Hawkes Artisan Florals and the Yeppoon Library and Community Centre were all impacted by fire.

The library and community centre were forced to close for the day, while Shannon Hawkes Artisan Florals was destroyed by the fire.

A 33-year-old woman has been charged with seven counts of wilful damage , two counts of arson , one count of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, one count of attempted stealing, and one count of endangering particular property by fire.

She has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
