Church fire under investigation in Central Queensland

A church in Blackwater has been destroyed by fire this morning.

Around 3am, emergency services were called to a significant fire at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church on Kurrajong Street.

The flames were extinguished shortly before 4am and no one was injured.

In a statement on social media, a church representative confirmed the blaze.

“Unfortunately, last night our beloved Catholic Church was lost to fire,” they stated.

“This is truly devastating, and we are still trying to process the heartbreak of it all.

“Yet even in this loss, our faith remains unshaken.”

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
