Someone needs to test the toilet water in Brisbane.
And just like that the NRL season has concluded for the 2025 season. Yesterday saw both the NRLW and the NRL grand finals in which the Brisbane Broncos Women played against the Roosters and the Broncos Men played the Storm. Plus, history is made AGAIN in the AFLW.
AFLW
The North Melbourne Kangaroos have been a dominant force of nature in the ALFW for many years now, the club is currently on a 20-game victory streak with their closest game this year being a 29 point win. But that’s not even the most impressive record currently happening on the field with the Kangaroos. During a clash against the Sydney Swans in which North Melbourne defeated the Swans by 68-points. Star Midfielder for North Melbourne, Ash Riddell, broke the possessions record with an immense 45 possessions in a single game. A record that had previously been broken twice earlier that year. BOTH TIMES BY ASH RIDDELL. That’s right. Ash Riddell has broken the possessions record 3 times this year.
NRL & NRLW
Sunday saw both the men and women Brisbane Broncos teams play off in the grand final at Accor Stadium in Sydney. To start us off the Telstra Women’s Premiership grand final played to a crowd of 46,228 people with the Brisbane Broncos and Sydney Roosters. After 17-minutes of play Tamika Upton from the Broncos finally managed to get a score on the board for the game, and not long after Jada Ferguson added another on the broncos score ending the first half at 0-12. But almost immediately into the second half the Roosters started their comeback with 3 tries in the first 10-minutes, all of which were successfully converted by Jocelyn Kelleher. But Bronco’s didn’t let the Roosters pull away and got two more tries to seal their premiership victory..
The men kicked off at 7:30pm with the Brisbane Broncos facing the Melbourne Storm. Brisbane may have gotten the first try on the score board, but it was the Storm that dominated the first half of the game. The Storm scored 22-points in the first half to Broncos 12. The Storms defence was immaculate throughout the first half, but when the second half started, little mistakes began to crack. The Broncos exploded back into the game with Ezra Mam and Reece Walsh getting some excellent runs in. But some unfortunate mistakes by the Storm allowed the Broncos to take advantage and win their first premiership since 2006.
