Paramount Animation has dropped the official trailer for “Smurfs,” the latest movie in the beloved franchise inspired by the iconic characters created by artist Peyo.
In this exciting new adventure, Papa Smurf (voiced by John Goodman) is kidnapped by the evil wizards Razamel and Gargamel. It’s up to Smurfette (voiced by Rihanna) to lead the Smurfs on a daring mission into the human world to rescue him. Along the way, they team up with new allies and uncover what it truly means to shape their destiny, all while working to save the universe from danger.
The star-studded voice cast includes Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, and Kurt Russell. Rihanna not only lends her voice to Smurfette but also plays a major creative role, writing, producing, and singing original songs for the film.
Directed by Chris Miller, with a screenplay by Pam Brady, “Smurfs” is produced by Rihanna, Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, and Ryan Harris. Fans of the Smurfs can look forward to enjoying this fun and family-friendly animated movie when it hits theaters on July 18th.
