If you have been waiting to see what the creators of Halo and Destiny have been cooking up then be hyped because Bungie has officially announced that their upcoming sci-fi extraction shooter, Marathon, will launch on Friday, 6 March 2026 (AEDT).
The latest data drop gives us a concrete look at what to expect on Tau Ceti IV. Between a massive voice cast and a Collector’s Edition that demands significant attention, Bungie is clearly banking on this being the next massive shift in the FPS landscape.

The “Who’s Who” of Voice Acting
Perhaps the most surprising part of the announcement is the English language voice cast. It seems Bungie decided to simply hire everyone you currently love in video games.
The list is exhaustive, but keen-eared fans will spot industry titans immediately. We are talking about Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan himself), Neil Newbon (the chaotic Astarion from Baldur’s Gate 3), Ben Starr (Final Fantasy XVI), and Jennifer English (Shadowheart).
Joining them are heavy hitters like Elias Toufexis (Adam Jensen), Darin De Paul, and Nika Futterman. While we do not know exactly which Runner or faction leader they will be voicing yet, the sheer calibre of talent suggests the narrative beats in Marathon will be hitting just as hard as the gameplay.
Bungie noted that the cast will continue to grow as the world evolves, which is promising for the live-service longevity of the game.
Survival of the Fittest (and Best Dressed)
Marathon tasks players with scavenging the lost colony of Tau Ceti IV as bio-cybernetic “Runners.” It is an extraction shooter, meaning the goal isn’t just to shoot things, it is to get in, find the goods, and get out before rival Runners or the environment takes you down.
The new gameplay trailer showcases a world that looks as beautiful as it is hostile. To survive, you will need the right gear. Pre-orders are now live for both Standard and Deluxe editions on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X|S. As expected in 2026, the game features full cross-play and cross-save functionality, so you can squad up with mates regardless of their platform allegiance.

Wrapped in the bold, fractured graphic style that has defined Marathon’s art direction so far, it launches alongside the game for $134.95 AUD. A Special Treat for Destiny Veterans
Bungie hasn’t forgotten the Guardians. To celebrate the launch, Destiny 2 players can claim themed rewards right now. There is a free MIDA Multi-Tool ornament and a “Waiting For Exfil” emote available to everyone.
