Property crime crackdown sees 38 people charged with 200 crimes

A property crime operation in Rockhampton has seen 38 people charged with 200 offences this month.

Operation Chainlink commenced on October 14, aiming to target repeat property crime offenders throughout the Rockhampton area, relating to burglary, enter premises and commit, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle offences.

As part of the operation, police arrested and charged a 43-year-old man who allegedly entered a number of addresses in Rockhampton City and Allenstown between October 18-20.

It will be further alleged the man possessed a knife in a Yaamba Road shopping centre and stole a quantity of property from a retail store.

The 43-year-old Wandal man has been charged with four counts of enter dwelling and commit, two counts of stealing, and one count each of enter premises, common assault, possessing a knife in a public place, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, and trespassing.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court on November 13.
