Sixty police officers from the Capricornia District have been officially recognized for their dedication and service.
More than 120 medals and certificates were presented to officers for their service, during the Capricornia District Police Awards ceremony in Rockhampton on Wednesday.
There were six recipients of Blue Heart Medals, awarded to members of the Queensland Police Service who have passed away or been severely injured whilst carrying out their duties during an operational incident.
Among those recognized was Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Sullivan of the Rockhampton Highway Patrol, who has served the community for more than 40 years.
He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his decades of service and was also presented with the Blue Heart Medal, after being injured in a crash while pursuing an offender.
Four officers also received an Assistant Commissioner’s Certificate in recognition of their leadership and professionalism during significant intelligence-led policing operations in 2024, that saw 328 offenders charged with a total of 717 offences.
Capricornia District Officer Superintendent Mark Burgess has congratulated all recipients on their significant contributions to the Queensland Police Service.
“Every recipient should be proud of the hard work they do for their communities each and every day,” said Superintendent Burgess.
“Every medal represents the sacrifice, courage and professionalism they bring to the service, to protecting our communities, and the lasting impact they make to the safety and wellbeing of all Queenslanders.”
