Census General Manager Jenny Telford says it’s essential to conduct next year’s Census.

“We are testing our collection processes and IT systems to ensure our processes work well and that
the form captures the right information, in the right way,” Ms Telford said.

“You can complete your form as soon as you receive your instructions if you know who will be home
on Census Test night, Tuesday 5 August 2025,” she said.

“Your participation matters. By taking part, you’re helping us improve the next Census for everyone
and ensure it produces high quality statistics.”

CQ is the only location in Queensland taking part in the mock event – homes in Melbourne for Victoria, Perth, Albany and the Wheatbelt region for WA and Coonamble and Gilgandra for New South Wales will take part.

All in all, about 60,000 homes will take part – roughly the same as the population of the Gladstone region.
