Guns and drugs found during traffic stop at Boyne Island

Two men are facing weapons and drug charges after police stopped a vehicle at Boyne Island.

An unregistered Landrover Freelander was pulled over and searched by police outside a Beltana Drive address around 2pm on Sunday.

It’s alleged officers found found two rifles, a privately made handgun, and quantities of methylamphetamine, cocaine, cannabis, MDMA and GHB.

A 31-year-old Heritage Park man was charged with five counts of possessing dangerous drugs, three counts of unlawful possession of weapons, and one count each of possessing utensils, supplying dangerous drugs, offence to buy or possess S8 medicines (Xanax), possessing anything for use in the commission of crime, and authority required to possess explosives (ammunition).

A 37-year-old Benaraby man was charged with four counts of possessing dangerous drugs, three counts of unlawful possession of weapons, and one count each of authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), possessing anything for use in the commission of crime, possessing utensils, and obstructing a police officer.

Both men are due to appear before Gladstone Magistrates Court.
