There was a major rescue operation at Yeppoon on Friday, to save a black cockatoo.
The bird got tangled in a kite string, and became stuck at the very top of a pine tree on the Foreshore.
Livingstone Shire Council was notified about the bird and requested help from QFES.
Rescue crews had to bring a second fire truck from Rockhampton in order to reach the cockatoo.

The bird was brought down to the ground safely and handed over to an RSPCA officer.
It’s expected to make a full recovery.

Council has taken to social media to thank everyone involved in the rescue.
“What a great outcome for our community who love black cockatoos,” the post reads.
