CQ jail boosted by 19 new correctional officers

19 new correctional officers have joined the frontline at Capricornia Correctional Centre.

The recruits have finished a 10-week training program which covers things like conflict management, tactical skills and QCS policies and legislation.

CCOs will work to stop the cycle of reoffending through the safe and secure management of prisoners and correctional facilities, with a range of roles available to grow their careers.

Queensland Corrective Services is still actively recruiting in the Rockhampton region, with the first training course for the new year starting on January 27.

Minister for Corrective Services Laura Gerber congratulated the graduating officers for completing their training.

“Corrective Services officers play a critical role protecting our communities and supporting the rehabilitation of offenders to make Queensland safer,” Minister Gerber said.

“Congratulations to the new graduates, I wish them the best as they embark on this exciting step in their careers.”
