An emergency exclusion zone has been established following a chemical spill in Banana.
Paramedics were first called to the Dawson Highway near Belldeen Greycliffe Road shortly before midday yesterday, where a truck believed to be carrying Nitric Acid had flipped.
The RACQ CapRescue Chopper has airlifted the driver of the truck to Rockhampton Hospital in a serious condition with head and arm injuries.
Motorists are told to avoid Dawson Highway, with the exclusion zone also encompassing Belldeen Greycliffe Road, Orange Creek Road and Orange Creek School Bus Road.
Road diversions are in place while clean-up efforts continue.
