RSPCA Queensland has launched the Prevent-a-Bite program to help children learn how to safely interact with dogs and reduce the risk of dog bites.
The program was developed in response to research showing many dog bite incidents involving children occur at home and often involve the family dog.
Prevent-a-Bite uses education, resources and a children’s song titled Wag Your Tail, created with educators Pevan & Sarah, to teach kids how to read dog body language.
The initiative was launched with school children and aims to improve awareness, promote respectful interactions with pets and support safer relationships between children and dogs.
