Queensland Dinosaur Week – Mount Morgan will take place on Monday 4 May 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mount Morgan School of Arts. The free event features a fascinating presentation by Dr Scott Hocknull, Principal Research Fellow at CQUniversity, exploring over 380 million years of the region’s prehistoric past. Attendees will journey from ancient seas and early marine life through to dinosaurs and Ice Age megafauna, while learning how local discoveries shaped Queensland’s scientific and mining history. The session also highlights how modern technology is opening new opportunities in palaeontology, education and tourism. A Q&A session will follow, with guests encouraged to bring fossils and questions. Registration is free, with enquiries via Advance Rockhampton on 07 4936 8282 or advancerockhampton@rrc.qld.gov.au
