Two men have been charged with knife offences after a police wanding operation at shopping centres in Rockhampton.
Local police carried out 260 wandings across shopping centres and Safe Night Precincts this month, with two weapons seized so far.
A 38-year-old Walterhall man and a 32-year-old Park Avenue man were both charged with possession of a knife in a public place.
Both men are due to appear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court next month.
North Rockhampton Station Officer in Charge, Senior Sergeant Kain Brown said the public can expect to see police conducting wandings at any time in public spaces.
“We are committed to preventing knife crime and ensure our community can spend time in public spaces safely,” said Senior Sergeant Brown.
“If you work with knives, remember to leave them in your car before entering shops, pubs and other public spaces.”
“Carrying a weapon in a public space is an offence, and officers will continue wanding operations to protect communities and deter crimes.”
