Michelle was born and raised in Rockhampton to Bill, a small business owner and Gloria, a nurse.

Michelle’s first job was to write casket tickets at her parent’s casket agency, Lucky Daniels, in Rockhampton which ran for over 21 years.

Upon finishing school at Rockhampton Girls Grammar School, Michelle worked in the laboratory of the local pathology clinic for five and a half years before beginning her 20-year career in banking in the National Australia Bank.

Prior to winning the seat of Capricornia in 2013, Michelle ran her own book-keeping business.

Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast is a beautiful region to raise a family, so she chose to raise her two daughters in Yeppoon.

Michelle understands the importance of being involved in the community through volunteering and has given her time and expertise to many organisations; Treasurer for Taranganba State School P&C committee, Treasurer for Keppel Coast Girl Guides, President of Rotaract and Team Leader for Yeppoon Surf Lifesaving Nippers.

Elected in 2013, Michelle became the third female to serve as the Federal Member of Capricornia. While in 2016, Michelle made electorate history to become the first conservative MP to serve more than one term in the seat of Capricornia since George Pearce.

Now in her fourth term, Michelle continues her fight to bring job security and better services to the region.

When not in Canberra or travelling the vast electorate of Capricornia to meet with constituents, Michelle enjoys spending her free time with her family, in the garden tending to her many orchids or taking walks on one of the many beautiful Capricorn Coast beaches.

The hard work is paying off for Capricornia.

“I’ve delivered record investment in roads, jobs, schools and key projects.

“But this is just the beginning.

“I want to see Capricornia flourish through a diverse economy, where mining, agriculture and tourism creates wealth for our families and small business.

“I want to work alongside our community to make this an even better place to live, a place where our schools, sporting facilities and support networks are the envy of Australia.

“I look forward to delivering the lifestyle you want, and the future you dream of for your children and grandchildren.

“By working with and for you, I know we can make this vision a reality.”
