MAJOR DRUGS FOUND IN WASTEWATER ACROSS AUSTRALIA

METHAMPHETAMINE (also known as ice):

* Regional consumption continues to exceed capital city consumption.

* South Australia had the highest ice consumption in both capital city and regional measures.

COCAINE:

* Capital city consumption continues to exceed regional consumption.

* NSW had the highest estimated cocaine consumption in both capital city and regional measures.

MDMA (also known as ecstasy or molly):

* Regional consumption continues to exceed capital city consumption.

* The NT had the highest estimated average capital city consumption.

* Queensland had the highest estimated average regional consumption.

MDA (also known as sassafras, sass or sally):

* Regional excretion continues to exceed capital city excretion.

* Queensland had the highest estimated average MDA excretion in both capital city and regional sites.

HEROIN:

* Capital city consumption continues to exceed regional consumption.

* Victoria had the highest estimated average heroin consumption in both capital city and regional measures.

CANNABIS:

* Regional consumption continues to exceed capital city consumption.

* Tasmania had the highest capital city consumption.

* South Australia had the highest regional consumption.

OXYCODONE (also known as hillbilly heroin):

* Regional consumption continues to exceed capital city consumption.

* Tasmania had the highest capital city consumption of oxycodone.

* Victoria had the highest regional consumption.

FENTANYL (also known as China white):

* Regional consumption continues to exceed capital city consumption.

* South Australia had the highest fentanyl consumption in both capital city and regional measures.

NICOTINE:

* Regional consumption continues to exceed capital city consumption.

* The Northern Territory had the highest nicotine consumption in both capital city and regional measure.

ALCOHOL:

* Regional consumption has exceeded capital city average consumption.

* The Northern Territory had the highest alcohol consumption in both capital city and regional measures.

MEPHEDRONE (also known as M-CAT, white magic and meow meow)

* Detected in NSW, Queensland, and Victoria.

* NSW had the highest number of detections in April 2020.

METHYLONE (also known as bath salts)

* Detected in all states and territories bar the ACT, Tasmania and Victoria.

* Western Australia had the highest number of detections.
