Sydney taxi driver carjacked at gunpoint

A taxi driver has been carjacked at gunpoint in Sydney's west according to police, who are hunting for the culprit.

The driver picked up a man at St Mary's train station, before 2.30am on Sunday, who pulled out a gun and demanded the driver's wallet, police say.

The driver then left his taxi and the man drove away. Police found the car half an hour later on Queen Street.

Police are now hunting the man responsible, who has been described has Caucasian with short brown hair and aged in his mid to late 20s.
