Central Queensland hits vaccine milestone

More than 80 per cent of Central Queenslanders have now had at least one dose of a COVID jab.

The latest statistics from the Australian Department of Health show 80.5 per cent of locals in the greater CQ region had received their first vaccine by November 21.

The rate in Gladstone is slightly higher than that average, with 82.4 per cent of locals having received at least one dose - Rockhampton has hit 82.1 per cent.

Local Government Areas yet to hit the 80 per cent milestone include Banana, with a 76.6 per cent first dose rate, and the Central Highlands at 75.1 per cent.

Central Queensland currently has the second lowest vaccine uptake across the state out of 19 regions, behind only the Queensland Outback.

The CQ double dose rate is currently sitting at 64.7 per cent.
