Large hail, 100km winds batter parts of CQ
More storms are on the cards for the Capricornia region today, following days of wild weather.
Storms have pummelled the Queensland coast this week, causing tornados near Gladstone, bringing record 16 centimetre hail north of Mackay and taking out power to thousands of homes.
Forecasters Sam Campbell says Biloela saw some significant activity yesterday.
"There was some quite large hail there 8 to 9 centimetres in diameter," Mr Campbell says.
"Some wind gusts getting up to 100 kilometres per hour there as well."
An Ergon Energy spokesperson says the power network stood up well, with no huge outages in the Biloela area.
But Central Queensland is not out of the woods yet.
Mr Campbell says there is a chance of severe storms from Townsville to Rockhampton, right down to the Gold Coast today.
"But the expectation is those storms won't be as strong as what we saw yesterday."
