Regional fuel prices on the rise

Central Queenslanders may have noticed a difference at the fuel pump this week.

The average price for petrol in regional centres across the state has increased by up to six cents per litre, according to data from RACQ.

Here in Central Queensland, unleaded prices rose by 5.2cpl in Rockhampton and 3.4cpl in Gladstone.

RACQ's Kate Leonard-Jones says global factors are to blame.

"So the increase in oil prices and the terminal gate price," Ms Leonard-Jones says.

"All trends are pointing towards prices continuing to increase as the year goes on.

"It looks like oil prices are also going to continue to go up, so we will see that flow on to the pump."

Ms Leonard-Jones says the best thing motorists can do is shop around, as not all service stations and fuel companies are charging the same price.
