Charges laid over forklift death
A man's been charged after a fatal forklift accident at Middlemount.
It's believed two men had been drinking at work shed on Braham Street around 2:30am on Saturday July 24th when they decided to drive the forklift to a nearby sports club.
The 42-year-old man drove the forklift whilst the second a 35-year-old man sat on the side of the cabin area.
It will be alleged the driver continued to drink rum whilst heading west on Centenary Drive South.
A short time later the forlift left the road and rolled.
The passenger died at the scene.
The driver has been served with a notice to appear on charges of driving without due care causing death, consume liquor whilst driving, drive vehicle outside of conditional registration and drive vehicle whilst person travel in part of vehicle not designed for carriage of persons.
He will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on October 5.
