Chilly CQ temps to warm this weekend

We could get a bit of a break from the chilly winter weather this weekend, with temperatures set to rise.

The mercury crept down to 1.6 degrees in Biloela this morning and Rockhampton recorded a low of six degrees.

Meteorologist Peter Markworth says things are due to heat up later in the week though.

"With temperatures becoming anywhere between four to seven degrees above the July average," Mr Markworth says.

"Starting over in the west on Friday, reaching the eastern districts from Saturday."

Rockhampton is forecast to reach a maximum of 29 degrees on Saturday, but it might be too early to pack the winter woolies away.

The warm conditions are set to be "fairly short lived".

"We are expecting cool conditions to return after a strong trough moves through," Mr Markworth says.
