A new app has been launched for Rockhampton tourists.

The app, Explore Rockhampton Self-Guided Tours App by Advanced Rockhampton offers self-guided audio tours around the region.

Advance Rockhampton Executive Manager Greg Bowden says app will help drive the local economy further through increased tourism spending.

“Self-guided tours provide visitors with another way of experiencing a city, and with a wealth of these free tours available to explore on the app, tourists will be encouraged to extend their stay and explore our region further,” Mr Bowden says.

“The beauty of the app is that visitors can explore our region at their own leisure and pace, and the app has functionality to pause a tour if visitors want to take a break and grab a cup of coffee or stop along the way for lunch."

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams says launching the new app will be great for the region as it will encourage visitors to spend more time experiencing Rockhampton’s unique attractions.

The app currently has the following six tours on offer:

·         Rockhampton’s Heritage Architecture Trail

·         Where’s the Beef? Bull Statue Tour

·         100 years old trees at the Botanic Gardens

·         Meet the crew at Rockhampton Zoo

·         A day in Mount Morgan

·         Riverside Public Art Trail.

To download the free app, head to the Apple App Store or Google Play and search for ‘Explore Rockhampton’.
