A local teacher and Principal has been recognised with a grant, for her leadership and committment to her students.
Principal of Blackwater State High School Rebecca Godfrey, has received a $45,000 fellowship grant, to use at the school.
Ms Godfrey says they she helped create a subject which helps those who may struggle in harder subject who still want to learn.
"I noticed that a lot of kids were struggling with the harder concept of physics, but they wanted to go into trade"
"I looked at it and realised we needed a little bit physics, little bit of maths, so I looked at putting that subject together and we called it Q-smart"
She says says some of the money will go towards professional development at the school as well a some going towards a new project.
The grant is thanks to the 2021 Commonwealth Bank Teaching Awards.
