Property in Central Queensland has been increasingly snapped up by interstate buyers during the COVID 19 pandemic.

In recent months, Rockhampton house prices have grown by 4.3 percent to $267,000, while unit prices have dropped by 6 percent to $253,750.

Real Estate Institute of Queensland CEO Antonia Mercorella said many of the buyers are coming from New South Wales and Victoria.

"The level of inquiry from interstate buyers is higher than ever and we're even hearing about rather extraordinary cases where interstate buyers are snapping up Queensland properties, in some cases, site unseen," Ms Mercorella said.
