Calls to push through Central Queensland power station proposal

There are calls for Federal Labor to reverse its decision to block a $3.3 million feasibility study grant for a coal fired power station in Central Queensland.

The proposed project is expected to create 2000 jobs during construction and 600 operational jobs at the Collinsville site - if it gets the go-ahead.

Labor had argued that the project would end up driving energy prices up; but federal Capricorn MP Michelle Landry strongly disagrees, "It's actually going to be very efficient - and these Hele power stations are going up all over the world, they wouldn't be building them if it was putting power prices up."
