Central Queensland will be home to one of the state's largest grid-connected wind farms.

Construction on the 450 megawatt Clarke Creek project will commence in 2021, with energy to flow into the grid from 2023.

Energy Minister Dr Anthony Lynham said the energy saving project will generate hundreds of jobs.

"350 jobs over construction and after construction, a wind farm of this size will tend to have between 10 and 20 full time jobs," Dr Lynham said.

"You build a new coal-fire power station you're going to put power prices up, you build renewable energy and power prices come down."
