UPDATE | Cancellation Severe Thunderstorm Warning

For people in Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Capricornia Forecast Districts.

Issued at 4:12 pm Saturday, 14 December 2019.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in QUEENSLAND.

Weather Situation:

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in QUEENSLAND.

The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: 
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. 
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. 
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.


EARLIER | A Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS, HEAVY RAINFALL and LARGE HAILSTONES has been issued for people in parts of Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Capricornia Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones

Weather Situation:

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Marlborough and St Lawrence.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Wide Bay and Burnett district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

 

The next warning is due to be issued by 6:40 pm.
