Thunderstorm Warnings Cancelled For Central Coast And Capricornia

UPDATE | Severe thunderstorms warnings were issued for the Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Capricornia Forecast Districts on Tuesday.  

That first warning was issued at around 5:30PM on Tuesday and finally cancelled at 7:40PM.  

The BOM advising that the immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES

For people in parts of Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Capricornia Forecast Districts.

Issued at 5:41 pm Tuesday, 15 October 2019.

Weather Situation:

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include St Lawrence.

Correction: Hail is expected to be large NOT giant as mentioned in the earlier warning.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 8:45 pm.
