Rockhampton Man Accused Of Assault and Vandalism

A man has been assaulted and a car smashed up in Coppabella overnight.

At 12.40AM on Tuesday, Moranbah Police received multiple Triple Zero (000) phone calls in relation to a disturbance on Mathieson Street involving a man assaulting another man and damaging a car.

When they arrived at Mathieson Street, Police were confronted by a 32-year-old Rockhampton man.

He was arrested and taken to Moranbah Police Station.

Following investigation into the incident, police allege that the man attended the address and began damaging a vehicle parked there.

It will be alleged that the man threw golf balls at the rear windscreen of the vehicle causing the screen to crack.

Police further allege that a confrontation then occurred between the owner of the vehicle and the man thereafter assaulted the owner of the vehicle.

During the confrontation, the man also threw a metal louvre through a kitchen window.

The owner of the vehicle was taken to hospital by paramedics to have his injuries assessed.

As a result, the man was charged with assault and two counts of wilful damage.

He will appear in the Moranbah Magistrates Court on November 20.

Moranbah Police are committed to tackling alcohol-fuelled violence.

Assaults against anyone, at anytime and anywhere in the community will not be tolerated.
