The RACQ Capricorn Rescue has been called to rescue two men after their four metre runabout capsized on the Capricorn Coast.

The two men were fishing close to the beach when what was described as a “freak wave” hit the side of the vessel causing it to capsize.

The driver sustained a facial laceration while the other occupant was uninjured in the ordeal at Stockyard Point.

Luckily there were some people in four-wheel drives who witnessed the event and immediately rendered assistance and called “000”.

Both men were transported via a witness in his four-wheel drive to a nearby helicopter landing pad where the two were treated by the helicopters on board Intensive Care Paramedic.

The men were then transported to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
