Man Charged Over Suspicious Death Rockhampton

UPDATE | Detectives have charged a man over the suspicious death of a man at Depot Hill.

A 56-year-old man was located with facial injuries at a residence on Campbell Street at around 9.30pm on April 16.

Emergency services responded, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.  

A 28-year-old Depot Hill man has been charged with one count of murder.

He will appear before the Rockhampton Magistrates Court onFriday April 26.  

The two men were known to each other.

EARLIER | Police have just updated the media on their investigation into a suspicious death at Depot Hill.  

Detective Acting Inspector Luke Peachey said they need to examine the crime scene to get a clearer picture of what happened.

The 56-year-old man was found with facial injuries at a residence on Campbell Street at around 9:30PM on Tuesday night.

Emergency crews tried to save him but he died at the scene.

The deceased man lived at the home where he was found.

His body was found in a bedroom, it was a makeshift bedroom set up in a space under the house.

He was there as a boarder, with other people residing upstairs.

The other residents are being interviewed by Police.

On the question of whether or not anyone else was home at the time the victim was assaulted, Detective Acting Inspector Luke Peachey said "it is not clear when the person was deceased however one of the residents at the address was the one who notified us that they had found the person deceased".

The circumstances surrounding that death remain under investigation.
