A new school of mining has been opened in Rockhampton, in a bid to upskill future workers in the region.
CQUniversity officially unveiled Rockhampton’s newest industry training and research hub yesterday at the Rockhampton North Campus.
The $23 million facility will provide the region with a world-class training and research facility to support future mining workforces including automation and drone operations.
It will include advanced training and research resources and equipment, such as simulation and virtual reality tools, and house the spaces for the delivery of professional development and training.
The hub will support the School of Manufacturing in Gladstone.
Both schools received Commonwealth Government funding of more than $30 million, with CQUniversity also contributing $7 million toward the projects.
