A 27-year-old man has died in Rockhampton following a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle.
Officers were first called to Allenstown after receiving reports of a stolen car travelling in the area, around 11.30 on Friday night.
After locating the vehicle, a tire deflation device was used to bring the car to a stop.
The occupant then fled on foot to Col Brown Park just before midnight.
Following failed attempts to locate the man, authorities called off the search until first light on Saturday.
Just before 8am, a member of the public located the 27-year-old’s body in the Fitzroy River at the bottom of an embankment in front of the park.
The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident.
